Unfortunately, this brave hero's life ended in tragedy. She was murdered outside her home in 2006. »

Anna was a crusader for human rights and critical of the Russian and Chechan governments. Her fearless criticism earned her the respect and love of the people, but it also made her many enemies. And more than four years after her murder, Anna's killers remain at large.
